Jessica Friesen is a jewelry and accessories designer based out of Calgary, Alberta. Bringing a unique blend vintage glamour and rock ‘n roll edge, Jessica’s pieces reflect both femininity and strength.
As a self-made designer, Jessica started to create jewelry at the age of four and never stopped. Beginning with basic beads on a string, she quickly evolved to curating pieces involving many variations of intricate beadwork incorporating Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones. After numerous successful showings in Calgary’s Art Central, Jessica decided to explore new techniques and mediums in order to expand her craft.
Precious metal jewelry has always been a great love of Jessica’s. Some of her fondest childhood memories involve treasure hunting in her Mother and Baba’s jewelry boxes, playing dress-up with their breathtaking collections of vintage jewels. In 2015, Jessica returned to the Alberta College of Art and Design to complete her Certificate of Achievement in Jewelry and Metals. Once she started working with metals, she knew she had found her ultimate challenge and love of jewelry creation.
In order to grow her collection and home studio to meet the increasing needs of her customer base, Jessica and her workbench have quickly become fast friends, spending hours together each and every day. Creating both custom made and collection based designs, her pieces have become luxurious sculptures; often incorporating unique segments of antique jewelry pieces or, for custom orders, treasures her clients bring her for one-of-a-kind pieces that tell generational stories.
The name Adi & Olive was chosen to represent Jessica’s heritage and tribute to her beloved Baba; as Olive was her name and Adi is Hebrew for jewel. Here you will find her premiere metalsmith collection, entirely handmade with love, using Jessica's favourite natural gemstone: Opal.
